Final Edit - Friday 18th
Today i went over sound for one last time made sure that the music was finished and in time with the title credits because it was coming in at the wrong time and it was messing up the title sequence because the big build up has already come in, however i want it to come in when "The Discovered" has come up and then the bass comes in so it builds more tension. I also added a dark droned note so that it builds more tension after the screaming when the screen goes black. I've done this so that the audience don't know what is going to happen and the tension just builds and builds and it is typical of horror films to build tension using black screen to build tension with a droned note. I also made sure that the colour saturation was the same so it doesn't switch from light to dark. Finally i looked over the whole opening sequence and made sure that every slip was meant to be there and made sure that it looked good and that it would give the genre of our opening sequence across.

title sequence research - group 2
Today In Media we are looking at title credits to give us an idea of what conventions we could use to make our credits look good for our genre; Horror. I looked at the opening credits for halloween and it starts of with a dark screen and a smiling pumpkin appears on screen with background music which is quite freaky. The pumpkin remains on screen with the music and slowly gets closer and the music also gets louder so it slowly builds the tension tension and you start of feeling alright and as the pumpkin gets closer it freaks you out. The music is on the piano and is playing quite high notes which makes you feel weird because it gets in side of you and then the droned note note that is quite low helps to build the tension as it thickens the sound and makes it sound unique.

I also looked at fonts to see if there was any our group could use that would help convince the viewers that our sequence is a horror and it would also go with the conventions and give us a better title. The titles left and below are my favourites from the website and i believe that they could help us give the conventions to the audience.
I also looked at "Dawn of the Dead" opening sequence which is a montage of the world now that the zombies have roamed free. It shows how gruesome they are and how the film we be like. It also has a news report overtop of this and there is also the sound of the heartbeat pumping fast which could connote that someone is in need of help or is dying. There is also screaming from the news report where the people are fleeing from the dead.
